A message from the First Selectman

Dear Willington Residents, Neighbors, and Friends,

As many already know, this morning two of our residents were assaulted on Mirtl Road.  First, I want to send our thoughts to the family, friends, and loved ones impacted by this senseless act of violence. As a tight-knit community, incidents such as this affect us all.  Our hearts go out to all those involved, including our first responders.

Secondly, I want to reassure everyone that the First Selectman’s Office will continue to work closely with the State Police, as we have been since the situation developed. As with any active crime scene and investigation, information must be shared carefully and appropriately so as to ensure the safety of the community and the integrity of the investigation of law enforcement.  While information is constantly developing, the State Police have assured me that implementing a broad-scale lock-down is not indicated at this time. In addition, the First Selectman’s Office will share any confirmed, official information via email, the Town website, and the official Town FaceBook page. Please use caution when sharing information gained from unofficial sources, as it may negatively impact the ability of the State Police to conduct their investigation.

Finally, thank you for your vigilance and care for the safety of our community. Please take the precautions necessary to feel safe for you and your family and, as always, call 9-1-1 if you see anything concerning or have information on this situation.
