Other Assessment Relief Programs

TOTALLY DISABLED EXEMPTION 

Any individual who is less than 65 years of age and is receiving Social Security disability payments may be eligible for a
$1,000 reduction of your assessment.

To qualify you must file an application and proof of being 100% totally and permanently  disabled,
as determined by the Social Security Administration.  This application will only need to be filed once.
  
The deadline for filing is October 1st.

There is also a program to exempt a specially equipped and modified motor vehicle used to transport
a disabled person for no cost.  Details are available in the Assessor's office.
    There is a one time application.  The exemption ends at time of death or if the vehicle is disposed of.
Note:  Totally disabled persons may also qualify for Elderly Homeowner's benefits.  See requirements under Elderly Homeowner Program
            

BLIND EXEMPTION
    File certificate of blindness from State
    Amount of exemption = $3,000.
    Filing period: by October 1st.
    One time application, exemption ends at time of death, no income limit.
