WILLINGTON BOARD OF EDUCATION
Special Meeting

January 29, 2002


        1.      Call to Order
                The special meeting was called to order at 6:32 p.m. by Chair E. D’Agata.
                Present:                Board Members E. D’Agata, K. Fisherkeller, D. Tulis, S. Bourbeau,
                                D. Radell, and H. Arico.
                Also Present:   Superintendent C. Berglund, Administrators A. Jones, B. Lysik and
                                D. Harding, Accounting Supervisor t. Hoffman, press, and staff.
                Absent: Board Member A. Gray.

        2.      2002-2003 Budget Workshop:
                        Overall Review and Action on Board of Education Budget Proposal
                Willington administrators presented possible reductions totaling $50,675.20.
                H. Arico presented a list of possible reductions totaling $23,922.04, plus speech clinician
                and teacher salaries.
                All options were reviewed along with the possible program impact.
                Discussion was held on cutting the emergency maintenance accounts at Hall and Center.
                Other board members presented options for discussion.

                Motion #1       D. Tulis moved  to accept the proposed reductions submitted by adminis-
                                S. Bourbeau 2nd trators for $50,675.00, with a list of reductions
                                Aye:  Unanimous attached to the minutes of the meeting.
                                                                                                Motion Carried

                The Transportation Committee will meet to review transportation bids on February 11, 2002.  
                This will supply information for budgeting purposes.

                Superintendent Berglund distributed the memo, “Reading/Language Arts Coordinators –
                Responding to State Mandates,” to the board for its review.
