Creative Drama Classes!!!

The Willington Parks and Recreation Department would like to offer a creative drama class to students in grades 4-8 this summer. Students will learn about acting, improvisation, creating a character and becoming a vital, creative part of a team through the fun of playing games designed for the theatre. Concepts of sense memory, subtext, concentration exercises as well as acting terminology will all be covered. Performances will be informal and done as part of the class work so students will learn to trust themselves and each other while they have the opportunity to explore their ability to perform within a safe, non-judgmental environment.

The class will be taught by Elizabeth Welsh, a Willington mom with a background in theatre. She co-founded the Los Angeles-based Athena Theatre and served as its Artistic Director. Additionally, she has worked with other regional theatres in the northeast as an actor and director and team-taught theatrical workshops for middle school students. Elizabeth has been teaching acting classes at Leaps and Dreams Performing Arts since the spring of 2009.
