Storm Update as of 3:30 PM on Monday, 10/30/17:
The good news first:
-Public Works has cleared all trees/branches that were blocking the roadway that were not tangled in wires and also removed most of the debris on the roads. Basically, they have done all they can do until Eversource arrives.
-All of our municipal buildings and streetlights have power.
-No roadways are flooded and damage was minimal.
-The sun is shining and the temps are actually above average today.
-Our Fire Department and Public Works crews are finally able to take a rest after a very long night.
The bad news:
-The percentage of people out of power WENT UP from 544 this morning to over 1,000. A guess as to why is that they sometimes have to temporarily de-energize a line in order to make some repairs. So perhaps this is actually good news?
-Several roads are still blocked and we cannot clear them without Eversource dealing with the damage first. Here are the known locations:
-Village Hill at Schofield
-Village Hill at Spak
-Village Hill at St. Moritz
-As many residents have experienced directly, Eversource appears to be overwhelmed (the entire state is affected) and is not giving out restoration predictions. We were told it might be "days" before power is fully restored.
